Admissions

Concurrent Enrollment

Applicants desiring to attend BYU as a concurrent enrollment student (a high school student who wishes to be considered for admission as a part-time student while enrolled in high school) must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete junior year of high school
  • Have an unadjusted cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher
  • Indicate unconditional support from the high school counselor and parent
  • Agree to enroll in no more than 11.5 hours during fall and winter semesters and no more than 5.5 hours during spring and summer terms.

Applicants must follow instructions on our online application. The Concurrent Enrollment Voucher may be downloaded here.

Concurrent Credit Transfer Policy

Many students are now receiving enriched high school experiences by enrolling concurrently in college courses while completing their high school curricula. BYU will consider these students for freshman admission and scholarships as long as they are still in high school at the time of application. This means that they may receive consideration for BYU-sponsored National Merit and Presidential Scholarships.

New Concurrent Enrollment Policy

Brigham Young University has recently reevaluated the policy regarding concurrent enrollment credit. Effective immediately, BYU will accept all college credit that appears on an official transcript from a college or university accredited by the regional accrediting commissions or the associations of schools and colleges that together cover the institutions chartered and/or licensed in the United States and its possessions, regardless of when or where the work was taken.

This is a change from the previous policy where credit was not granted for classes taken at the high school during the normal high school day.
