Admissions

Early Admission

A high school student who wishes to be considered for full-time admission to Brigham Young University and who will not receive a high school diploma prior to enrollment at BYU must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete regular new freshman application.

  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.70 or higher.

  • Achieve a composite standard ACT score of 27 or higher.

  • Submit a letter of unconditional recommendation for early admission from the high school counselor or principal. The letter must verify that the student can no longer benefit from high school attendance since high school courses do not properly challenge and motivate the student. The letter must also state that the student is academically prepared and has the emotional and social maturity to benefit from attendance at Brigham Young University.

  • Submit a letter of unconditional recommendation for early admission from the parents or legal guardian.

Note: The criteria listed above merits consideration for, but does not guarantee, admission to the university.
