Transfer Evaluation

Finding Out What Classes Transfer

You may look up the transferability of courses to BYU through our online system. Simply follow the instructions below to look up individual classes.

Step 1: Access a BYU Net ID and Password

If you do not have a BYU Net ID, you will need to create one using the following instructions.
If you do have a BYU Net ID and password, go to Step 2.

  1. Go to www.BeSmart.com.
  2. Click on "Admission Application & Status" (near the middle of the page).
  3. Click on "Online Application" (the first item in the middle column of the page).
  4. Read and then check the box next to "I have read and agreed to live by the Honor Code."
  5. Click "Continue" (just below the agreement).
  6. Click "Create a Net ID."
  7. Fill out all of the requested information.
  8. Click "Continue."
  9. Select your Net ID or create your own.
  10. Create a password. You wil be asked to retype it for verification.
  11. Create a verification question.
  12. Enter your e-mail address.
  13. Click "Submit."
  14. Record your Net ID and password for future reference.


Step 2: Find Out What Classes Transfer

  1. Go to www.byu.edu.
  2. Log in by entering your Net ID and password in the designated white boxes at the top of the screen.
  3. Press "Enter" on your keyboard, or click the yellow triangle button next to the Password box.
    (If you log in on this page instead of the www.byu.edu page, the following steps will not work unless you click on the "Route Y" link in the top-left corner.)
  4. In the white search box where it reads "Quick URL" (to the right of the screen), type "TRN09."
  5. Press "Enter" on your keyboard or click the yellow triangle button.
  6. In the white box provided, type in the college name or code.
  7. Click "GO."
  8. If it asks you to, select the correct college and click on it.
  9. Depending on which college course numbers you know, click on either, "I know the BYU course number" or "I know the (the college you selected) course number."
  10. Find the course name in the "Department" drop-down menu.
  11. Click "GO."
  12. Find the catalog number from the "Catalog" drop-down menu.
  13. Click "GO."
  14. After you click "GO," the course you chose will appear.
