BA Classical Studies: Classical Civilization
Emphasis (37–45 hours*)
Emphasizes Classical Civilization, with work in either Greek or
Latin language.
Major Requirements
- Complete one course from the following:
- Cl Cv 110, 201.
- Complete the following:
- Cl Cv 241, 304, 307.
- Complete one course from the following:
- Cl Cv 245, 246.
- Complete one of the following options:
- Greek 101, 102, 201, 301, 302.
- Latin 101 and 102 (or 111); 201, 301, 302.
Note: Greek 101, 102, and Latin 101, 102, 111 may be
waived with equivalent language experience.
- Complete 6 hours from the following in the same language as
above:
- Complete two courses from the following:
- Cl Cv 261, 310, 340R, 355.
- Clscs 420, 430R, 490R.
*Hours include courses that may fulfill university core requirements.
BA Classical Studies:
Classics Emphasis (47–63 hours*)
Emphasizes Greek and Latin literature and language, with some
work in Classical Civilization.
Major Requirements
- Complete one course from the following:
- Cl Cv 110, 201, 241.
- Complete the following:
- Cl Cv 304, 307.
- Greek 101, 102, 201, 301, 302.
- Latin 101 and 102 (or 111); 201, 301, 302.
Note: Greek 101, 102, and Latin 101, 102, 111 may be
waived with equivalent language experience.
- Complete one course from the following:
- Cl Cv 245, 246.
- Complete one course from the following:
- Greek 401.
- Latin 401.
- Complete four additional courses (at least one Greek and one
Latin) from the following:
- Any 400-level course in Greek or Latin.
- Clscs 420, 430R, 490R.
- Note: Greek 411R and Latin 411R may be taken only once.

BA Classical Studies:
Greek Emphasis (38–46 hours*)
Emphasizes Greek language and literature, with some work in
Greek civilization.
Major Requirements

- Greek 101, 102, 201, 301, 302, 401.

- Greek 311, 411R, 430, 431, 433, 434, 435, 436, 437, 490R.
- Note: Greek 411R may be taken only once.

Latin Emphasis (37–45 hours*)
Emphasizes Latin language and literature, with some work in
Roman civilization.
Major Requirements
- Complete one course from the following:
- Cl Cv 110, 201, 241.
- Complete the following:
- Cl Cv 246, 307.
- Latin 101 and 102 (or 111); 201, 301, 302, 401.
- Note: Latin 101, 102, 111 may be waived with equivalent
language experience.
- Complete 15 hours from the following:
Clscs 420, 430R, 490R.
Latin 411R, 430, 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436, 437, 438, 439,
440, 441, 490R.
- Note: Latin 411R may be taken only once.

BA Latin
Teaching (78–91 hours*, including licensure hours)
Major Requirements
- An approved teaching minor is required (approximately 16–21
hours).
- Complete the following:
- Cl Cv 246, 307.
- Latin 101 and 102 (or 111); 201, 301, 302, 377, 378,
401.
Note 1: Latin 101, 102, 111 may be waived with equivalent
language experience.
Note 2: Fingerprinting and FBI clearance must be
completed prior to enrolling in Latin 377.
