1. No more than 3 hours of D credit is allowed in major courses.

2. Complete the following preparation core courses:
   Math 112, 113.

   Complete one course from the following:

   Stat 221, 321, 331, 332.

   *Note: Students who have passed the AP statistics exam or an introductory statistics course should not take Stat 221.

   Complete the following statistics core courses:

   Stat 291, 292, 336, 337.

   Complete one of the majors or emphases listed below.

BS    Actuarial Science (57 hours*)

Major Requirements

2. Complete the following:
   Econ 110.
   Math 214, 343.
   Stat 470, 474, 475.

   Complete 18 credit hours from the following:

   Acc 200, 210.

   Bus M 300.

   C S 142.

   Econ 380, 381, 382, 388, 450, 588.

   Stat 224, 331, 334, 424, 431, 434, 435, 442, 462, 466, 469, 496R, 497R, 545.

Recommended Courses

It is recommended that students take Acc 200, Bus M 300, Econ 380, 381, and either Stat 469, Econ 388, or Econ 588.

BS    Statistics: Statistical Science Emphasis (57 hours*)

Emphasis Requirements

1. Complete the major requirements listed above.

2. Complete the following:
   Math 214, 343.
   Stat 441, 442.

   Complete 24 credit hours from the following, with at least 15 from the statistics list:

   C S 142.

   Math 315, 316, 334, 480.

   Stat 224, 331, 334, 424, 431, 435, 462, 466, 469, 496R, 497R, 535, 536, 538, 545.

Recommended Courses

It is recommended that students take Stat 224, 424, 431, 435, 469. Students planning graduate studies should also take Math 315, 316. (See Mathematics section of this catalog for prerequisites.)

BS    Statistics: Biostatistics Emphasis (59–63 hours*)

   Complete a minor offered by the College of Life Sciences, or equivalent departmentally approved course work (approximately 14–18 hours).

   Complete 12 credit hours from the following:

   Stat 224, 331, 334, 424, 431, 434, 435, 466, 469, 496R, 497R, 535, 536, 538, 545.

Recommended Courses
