Minor in World Dance (15.5 hours*)



This is a limited-enrollment program requiring departmental admissions approval. Please see below for information regarding requirements for admission to this minor.

Program Requirements

  1. Before being accepted into the minor, a student must:

      PREREQUISITE: Dance 173R or previous dance experience.
      DESCRIPTION: Accelerated ethnic dance techniques selected from the Chinese, Hungarian, Irish, Polynesian, Spanish, or Ukrainian cultures.

                   : Ethnic Dance Technique 1: Chinese.
                   : Ethnic Dance Technique 1: Polynesian.
                   : Ethnic Dance Technique 1: Hungarian.
                   : Ethnic Dance Technique 1: Irish.
                   : Ethnic Dance Technique 1: Spanish.
                   : Ethnic Dance Technique 1: Ukrainian.

      Note: No more than one hour may be taken in any one ethnic style.

  7. Complete one hour from the following:

      PREREQUISITE: Dance 271 or equivalent.
      DESCRIPTION: Advanced technique and steps; buck and Canadian styling and free styling.

      PREREQUISITE: Audition.
      DESCRIPTION: Performance techniques and experience in folk dance.

      Note: Dance 373R and 378R may not be taken more than once for credit toward the minor.
