Therapeutic Recreation Emphasis (57 hours*)
General Information
- Students are advised to take Stat 221 to fulfill their Languages
of Learning general education requirement.
- First aid and CPR certification must be obtained before
completing the RMYL 496R internship experience.
- Most agencies now require therapeutic recreation specialists to
be certified through the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Students should consult the
NCTRC candidate information at www.NCTRC.org to ensure
eligibility to sit for the certification exam. To practice in the state of Utah, the law also requires a licensure exam.
- Students will be required to complete two extensive advising
sessions as they declare their major and as they begin their therapeutic recreation core courses.
