Minor in Russian Teaching
(17–32 hours*)
The Russian teaching minor is intended for students who are pursuing secondary education licensure through the David O. McKay School of Education.
Note: Before declaring a Russian teaching minor, candidates must consult with the section leader.
Program Requirements
- Register with the secretary in the department office.
- Complete the following prerequisite courses (may be waived for students with sufficient proficiency in the language):
RUSS 201 : Second-Year Russian, Part 1.

| DESCRIPTION:  | Grammar review and discussion in Russian of both expository and literary readings. |

RUSS 330 : Cultural History of Russia.

RUSS 340 : Masterpieces of the Russian Novel in English.

RUSS 378 : Practicum in Teaching Russian.

Note: Russ 377 must be taken concurrently with Russ 378 fall semester and prior to student teaching; however, Russ 377 and 378 may be waived for students who have taken a methods course for another language.

- Before applying to student teach in the major, complete the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) examination with a minimum level of Intermediate-High in order to be granted Utah state licensure.
*Hours include courses that may fulfill university core requirements.
