This minor is designed to prepare students to teach in public schools. A teaching minor may only be received by students graduating with a teaching major. In order to graduate with this minor, students are required to complete Utah State Office of Education licensing requirements.       DESCRIPTION: Fundamental concepts in testing, use/interpretation of current instruments for language/academic assessment, appropriate placement of linguistically diverse students, and developing classroom language assessments.

      DESCRIPTION: Theory and rationale for developing language and content knowledge in two or more languages. Background and skills necessary to teach language through math, science, and social studies in Spanish in the K-12 immersion and dual-immersion environments.

      PREREQUISITE: For TESOL K-12 teaching minors: TELL 400 or concurrent enrollment. There are no prerequisites for non-TESOL K-12 students.
      DESCRIPTION: Standards, principles, policies, and processes of partnering with parents, families, schools, and communities in fostering and sustaining the development of children and youth.

      DESCRIPTION: Practicum in bilingual education; teaching second-language learners.

      Note: TELL 478R can be completed in conjuction with student teaching if a bilingually-endorsed mentor teacher and learner are being taught in both Spanish and English.
