  2. The Germanic and Slavic Languages Department requires a minimum of 18 hours of upper-division major credit to be taken in residence at BYU for this degree program. These hours may also go toward BYU's 30-hour residency requirement for graduation.

      Note: Germ 497R must be a topic related to advanced German linguistics.

  9. Complete eight additional hours of pro-seminars and/or courses numbered 315 or higher, 5 hours of which must be approved linguistics courses such as second language acquisition, dialectology, Middle High German, or Old Saxon.

  10. Final German proficiency examination: complete the following during the last two semesters before graduation (not offered spring or summer):

      NOTE: Required for one credit in one of final two semesters for graduating seniors.
