Admission to Degree Program

The undergraduate minor in special education is designed for secondary education majors. Students must apply to the Counseling and Special Education Department for admission. Applications may be obtained from the department office in 328 MCKB and will be due on June 1 for fall admission and March 1 for spring admission.

Minor Special Education (29–32 hours*)

  1. Students must be admitted to a secondary education major and the special education minor. See the secretary in 328 MCKB for application information for the minor.

  2. Complete the following prerequisite courses:
    CSE 400
    IP&T 301
    ScEd 276R.

  3. Complete the following courses:
    CSE 403, 404R, 405, 406R, 503, 510.

  4. Complete 3–8 hours of the following, depending on whether or not secondary student teaching is completed:
    CSE 586R.
