The State of Utah has provided UCOPE funding to BYU for possible work-study
positions. Its purpose is to provide meaningful work experience for students
who are responsible for obtaining their own jobs on campus, in areas related to
their majors. UCOPE money will reimburse departments for wages paid the
student. Students are paid up to $7.50 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours per
week. Depending on departmental and student need, departments are welcome to
supplement this wage. Once students are chosen and hired, the Financial Aid
office will continue to monitor the student's eligibility and communicate with
the appropriate supervisor(s). Although we have taken steps to minimize the
administrative burden for the department, job accountability is theirs.
Currently, BYU does not participate in federal work-study programs however,
many student employment
opportunities exist on campus without this funding.
Multicultural Student Services offers work-study opportunities for
eligible students.
