Deadlines for Graduate Students

NOTE: These deadlines are firm. Students submitting materials after these deadlines will be considered for graduation in the following semester. Please check with your department. They may have set deadlines earlier than those listed below.

Last day to schedule a final oral examination (defense of dissertation, thesis, or selected project*) with department using the Department Scheduling of Final Examination form (ADV Form 8c). Last day to submit a copy of the work to your department. This copy will be made available to the university community prior to the final oral examination

Last day to submit dissertatiion, thesis, or selected project* with the Approval for Submission of Dissertation, Thesis, or Selected Project (Form 8d) to the college dean for signature. For ETDs, the document must be submitted online in PDF format through the ETD submission site. After the department has approved the ETD, the dean's office will review and approve the ETD.

Last day to submit final printed copies and/or ETD with ADV Form 8d to the Library Administration Office (2060 HBLL). Student should then bring a validated ADV Form 8d to Graduate Studies (105 FPH). Last day to complete any remaining requirements for a degree including payment of fees, submitting grade changes (for I's, T's, etc.) and for departments to enter examination results (oral or written) in AIM (ADV08)

PLEASE NOTE:
  1. December graduates are invited to participate in April Graduation exercises.
  2. All students in dissertation, thesis, or selected project* programs must use Form 8c to schedule the final oral examination at least two weeks before the exam. Final examinations may not be held during the "interim period" between semesters.
  3. Ample time should be allowed to make corrections in dissertations, theses, or selected projects* after the final oral defense and before the deadline for turning in the final paper copies or ETD to the library.
* This refers to project programs in the Departments of Instructional Psychology and Technology, Integrative Biology, Linguistics and English Language, Nursing, School of Technology, Statistics, and Visual Arts.
