Step 1: Count the Cost

Cost of Attendance

The university provides an official Cost of Attendance for the academic year which is used in calculating eligibility for federal grant and loan programs. When Stafford Loan funds are used, the total amount of aid a student is receiving (including scholarships) cannot exceed this Cost of Attendance. While tuition amounts listed are fixed costs, your costs in other areas may vary from those listed below. In order to calculate your personal costs, complete the Budget Worksheet.

Half-Time Cost of Attendance

Undergraduate students who are enrolled in fewer than 9 credit hours and Graduate students who are enrolled in fewer than 8.5 credit hours are assigned a half-time cost of attendance. The tuition and books/supplies components are reduced to reflect the lower expenses for these students. Since loans cannot be awarded above a student’s cost of attendance, expected loan amounts may be reduced if a student drops from a full time cost of attendance to a half time cost of attendance.
