BYU Departmental Scholarships
What is it?
Students can receive department and college scholarships in addition to university scholarships. Contact both your department and your college advisement center for additional opportunities. Each department/college determines its own scholarship recipients and may have different deadlines and application forms.
Who is eligible?
Admitted and prospective graduate and undergraduate degree-seeking students are eligible to apply for departmental scholarships. Eligible undergraduate students are commonly referred to as New Freshman, Transfer Students, and Continuing Students.

When are the deadlines, and when will I know if I am a recipient?
This will vary depending on the college/department through which you are applying.
To see your current and past awards (scholarship history) see the SCHOLAR page on myBYU.
How and when will I get the money?
Your scholarship will be posted to your Student Account if you have registered for the minimum credit hours required (14 credits F/W; 6 credits Sp/S). If you do not maintain the required credit hours for the duration of the semester, such as withdrawing or discontinuing, the entire award will be canceled and you will be responsible to pay all tuition charges and late fees. (If, during the add/drop period, you drop below 14 hours, the scholarship will automatically "un-post" from your student account. If this happens, your tuition may be unpaid and registration and other holds placed on your account. Your scholarship will automatically "re-post" once you again have 14 hours.) Once the award posts to your account, it will credit toward your tuition and other charges. If money from scholarships and other aid exceeds charges owed, Student Financial Services will automatically refund excess monies.
Excess monies are refunded at the beginning of each semester/term for which the funds are designated. Refunds will be sent to your bank account if you authorize direct deposit. If you do not authorize direct deposit, any excess funds will be mailed to the mailing address you have listed on myBYU; this may delay your receipt of funds.
