Study Abroad
Federal Financial Aid
Those students participating in a Study Abroad program, who have been officially admitted to BYU as regular degree-seeking students, may be eligible for federal financial aid. Funds received from federal financial aid programs may be used to help cover Study Abroad costs. Visit the Federal Grants and Federal Loans links located on the left-hand column for additional information regarding Pell Grants, Stafford and PLUS loans.
BYU Scholarships
Those students who have been accepted to a BYU Study Abroad program are welcome to apply for scholarships by completing our online scholarship application by the appropriate deadline. You are also welcome to check with the Kennedy Center and your department for additional scholarship opportunities.
The Financial Aid Office allows students to apply the scholarships it awards to the tuition costs of Study Abroad, Jerusalem Center, and Washington Seminar. However, if your scholarship was awarded by another campus department, you must receive permission from that granting office to use your scholarship for these programs.
You may use your off-campus scholarship for either Study Abroad or for Internships as long as you are receiving BYU credit for the program.
To find out more information about using an off-campus scholarship for Independent Study courses, please call (801) 422-2868 or e-mail indstudy@byu.edu. Please note that any BYU awarded scholarships cannot be used for Independent Study courses.
