Can I defer the first semester I'm admitted?
First semester deferments are reserved for missionaries leaving during the semester they were admitted. Continuing Student Deferments are not applicable to first semester students. Thus, the only students who are able to defer the first semester they are admitted are students leaving on missions during that time.
May I defer enrollment to serve an LDS mission?
Yes. Enrollment may be deferred while you serve a full-time mission by filling out and agreeing with the terms specified in the LDS Missionary and Scholarship Deferment Application.
How do I defer?
If you have received a decision and are not able to come as expected, you will need to go online to your application status and submit a decline decision to the respective school for which you have been accepted. Reminder: You cannot defer the first semester that you are admitted unless it is for a mission.
If you want to change the semester or term to which you are applying, you can do this online by resubmitting Part 2 of your application. If you have already been admitted, you will need to call you Admissions Counselor at 801-422-2507. You must understand that by changing semesters, you lose your standing as an admitted student and your application is reevaluated for the new semester with no guarantee that you will be accepted.
