Most classroom scheduling should be completed during the source document-proofing period. If sections need to be added or moved after the class schedule has been posted, students must be notified. In some cases the section must be cancelled and the new time added under a new section number. If students are already registered for a class that is to be changed or cancelled, the department must notify them by e-mail and by posting signs on the door of the original classroom during the first few class periods following the change.
To change classrooms or to cancel or reschedule sections, a department must contact the Academic Scheduling Office or Evening Classes. If possible, the change will be made. However, it is very difficult to reschedule rooms to prime hours such as 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., or 1:00 p.m.
The instructor should inspect the classroom to check the chalkboards, electronic equipment, and seating type before the department submits the final class schedule proof. Instructors may find during the registration period that student demand exceeds classroom capacity. Contact class scheduling when a room change is needed.
Class changes must be conveyed to the appropriate scheduling office by the department scheduler or secretary.

If the department wishes to advertise a new class or section, it is the department’s responsibility to do so. If a section is added to a course listing, AIM will display this addition to students in the department class listing.
