Preparing a Class Schedule

Academic Scheduling » Preparing a Class Schedule

Policy

Before a class schedule is produced, specific course information must be gathered from each department by submitting and updating source documents and proofs. This information is entered into the University computer and is accessible through the internet via AIM.

Class Schedules must be produced accurately and distributed before the registration periods. Following this schedule helps departments, Academic Scheduling, and Evening Classes coordinate production.

Procedure

The Academic Scheduling Office (ASO) sends each department chair source documents for each semester. These source documents are divided according to day and evening classes. A source document reflects the previous year schedule. The day class information is returned to the ASO and the evening classes to the Evening Classes. The Academic Scheduling Office and Evening Classes are responsible for gathering the source documents from the departments. Attached to the documentation is a letter indicating the deadline for submission and other information. A packet that outlines the instructions for the preparation of source documents is also included. If the department already has assigned rooms, a list of those rooms is attached. A Course Description Code List that shows course and title numbers for that year-term is included with source documents.
