What is the difference between withdrawing and discontinuing?
Discontinuance is withdrawing from all classes so there is no enrollment for the current semester/term. A student may withdraw from some courses, up until the withdraw deadline by using MyMap. Click here for more information.
Students who have future semester/term enrollments may withdraw from courses before the first day of class by simply dropping the courses online using MyMap.
When do official withdrawls, "W's" show on the transcript?
All enrollments become official after the first 6 days of the semester/term. All courses withdrawn after this add/drop deadline will show on the transcript as "W's" or official withdrawals. Discontinuing by the 6th day of the term will show a withdraw date on the student transcript, but courses or "W's" are not recorded.
Note: A "W" is not a grade and does not affect the GPA. It is used to accurately show the enrollment history on the student record and shows that the student was "officially enrolled" in a course, but then "officially withdrew" from the course.
How does discontinuance affect my eligibility for future enrollment?
Continuing students who discontinue from a major semester (fall or winter) will be considered on a leave of absence for the semester they discontinue. Students who are newly admitted to the current semester or term will lose their admission status when they discontinue, and should contact the Discontinuance Counselor, D-148 ASB about reapplying.
What about discontinuing during spring or summer term?
Discontinuance during spring or summer terms does not change the students admission status unless the student was admitted to spring or summer term as a new freshman, transfer student, or former student. Newly admitted students to spring or summer term who discontinue the term they were admitted must reapply for admission.
Are instructor's signatures required?
After the withdraw deadline student's must have instructors sign the Grade and Attendance Report section of the discontinuance form (back of form) and indicate if a student was passing (W) or failing (WE) as of the last day of attendance.

Do I get a tuition refund?
When you have submitted your completed discontinuance form and you are withdrawn from your classes, your tuition charge will be adjusted according to the Tuition Refund Schedule. If you are due a refund, and you paid with a credit/debit card, the refund will be applied to that card. If you paid with cash or an e-check, the refund will be mailed to the mailing address you have listed in Route Y (unless you have signed up for direct deposit through My Financial Center.) If you had scholarship or financial aid, you may not receive any refund. If you have questions regarding other forms of tuition payment, benefits, etc., contact the discontinuance counselor.
Note: Due to the number of students discontinuing each semester, refunds and account adjustments can take approximately 2-3 weeks to process; because federal regulations and time constraints require federal aid adjustments to be processed first. If you have questions about receiving your refund, please contact Student Services at 422-4104.
