To have a previously completed course marked repeated, the new course must be equal or greater in credit hours.
The most current completed course is the one factored into your BYU GPA & credit hours. The previously completed BYU course will remain on your transcript, but the grade and credit hours are not calculated in the GPA.
Students may repeat classes in the following ways:
If a student repeats a BYU class with the identical class at BYU, it is automatically marked as a repeat.
In order for courses which are not identical, but are equivalent, to be marked as a repeat, the student must fill out a repeat form at the Records Office and in some cases supply a statement of equivalency from the department.
Note: A course repeated at an institution other than the one at which it was taken originally and other than at BYU will not be counted as a repeat.
Note: Having a transfer course marked repeat by taking a BYU course will only affect your total GPA. This is not on your transcript, and is only used when applying to a program within the University
