An undergraduate student in good standing may register for as many as 18 credit hours in any one semester (fall/winter) or 9 credit hours in any one term (spring/summer) by following the regular registration procedure.  College advisement centers may authorize students who have demonstrated superior academic ability for a maximum of 21 credit hours per semester (11 per term).  This authorization is stamped on an add/drop card with the number of hours approved and a signature from the advisor.

The advisor has the option of flagging this approval on a student’s record.  Registering for classes through Continuing Education or registering for classes for audit constitutes a part of the total registration hours.  Through a petition process, exceptions to these rules may be granted by the University Registrar through the Petitions Office.

A graduate student may take up to 22 hours/semester.  For exceptions to go over 22 hours graduate students must go through the Graduate Studies Office (B-356 ASB, 422-4091).
