Great things are happening on BYU campus! Following are six noteworthy areas:

1. Campus Buildings

The university's approximately 560-acre main campus includes 295 buildings: 87 for academic programs, 58 for administrative and auxiliary services and 150 for housing.

Some of the most notable buildings on campus are the Carillon Bell Tower, the J. Willard Marriott Center, the state-of-the-art BYU Broadcasting Building, and at the heart of campus—the Harold B. Lee Library.

2. Academic Programs

BYU offers:

• 190 bachelor's degrees
• 64 master's degrees
• 25 doctorate degrees

• Eight general undergraduate areas of study

3. Foreign Languages

Nearly 70% of students speak a language in addition to their native tongue. In total, BYU students speak 111 languages. About 50% of students have served LDS missions, with many of them gaining fluency in a second tongue. Some additional language facts include:

• 55 languages are taught at BYU (another 30 are available with sufficient interest).
• 32% of students enroll in language courses.
• Students can improve their language skills by living in the BYU Foreign Language Student Residence, which is available for nine different languages.

5. Performing Arts

Since 1971, BYU performing groups have performed more than 12,000 shows in all 50 states and 100 countries, in front of more than 7 million people. Radio and television broadcasts have reached billions.

6. Undergraduate Mentoring

Undergraduate mentoring and research is a major focus at BYU. In the 2010-2011 school year, The Office of Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) awarded mentoring grants worth $547,200 to 304 undergraduate students, and $1.4 million to 72 faculty mentors.
